Local builder mandolin neck reset
A friend of mine gave me his locally built mandolin for a neck reset. The glue in the dovetail has started to fail, and left a large gap at the bottom and a separation from the fingerboard and body. I’ve taken my brownstone and tried to heat the joint up enough to soften things up, but to no avail. I have no idea what type or where the joint…

Epiphone LP Limited Edition severe fall damage
Okay gang I have a doozy of a crack repair. Young guy brought in a Epiphone LP Limited Ed. He had picked up the case while it was unlatched at the guitar took a nasty tumble. Severe finish damage, and the wood has a shear split in it as well. The undercoat is thick with a thin layer of nitro color on top. Spoke with a sweetwater rep and they… Read more

when setting up acoustic guitars, from time to time I have a lot of trouble with getting the G string to ring true when fretted. Starting from lower frets and at its worst at about the 5/6th fret, the G string buzzes when plucked “heavily” (when no other string does so)…most recently a Taylor 724 which had a neck adjustment to reduce action…

Pouring From Hardware Chemical Cans Solution
Looking for a solution to efficiently pour from the metal hardware style gallon sized chemical cans into smaller squeeze bottles. I always make a mess and make waste . I have searched for an after market screw on spout to no avail.

This question is best directed to Dan Erlewine, since he has figured out how to match the blue color paint.
I got this 1969 Buck Qwens American in the shop after the owner’s Mother-in-law left it on a guitar stand in front of a window in the Phoenix area.. for 50 years. It came in just a bit melted and warped. As the discussion progressed I…

Help With Wiring Diagram - SUPER SWITCH
Hi fellow loothers! 🙂
Now, I am not an electronics guru. I can follow a nice graphical wiring diagram when hooking up electronics.

Position 2: Bridge + Middle (series)

Position 3: Middle

Position 4: Middle + Neck (series)

wiring a fishman black stack and a k&k mini to a volume pot.
Hey all, I have a client who wants a fishman soundhole pickup and a k&k mini wired to a volume pot on a Martin 000. Both pickups are pre-wired to their dedicated output jack, so I know some splicing has to be done. I wanted to reach out and see if anyone has any tips or tricks on how to make this smooth sailing?

Bridge Conversion - Left to Right
Happy Friday Everyone!
I have a friend that bought a worn out looking used guitar recently and has asked me to change it from a lefty to a righty.
As you can see from the one photo there is a bulge in the soundboard that they won’t want to invest to fix correctly before having the new right handed bridge installed.
He could buy a new or better…

I’m not sure this belongs in this subcategory, but not sure where else to post it. Could use another set of eyes and expertise on this.
Customer came through yesterday wanting to sell a 1950 Gibson L-48. It’s been played and loved quite a bit, but despite that it plays and sounds very well. The tuners are cheap replacements, the fingerboard…
