Epiphone LP Limited Edition severe fall damage
At this point I’m thinking of doing a complete refinish of the back. Probably build up the finish with some Gluboost, level it and go from there. I might try to do some color matching with the gluboost powders to try and get it close then do a couple over coats of color or clear to blend and hide. @ianhatesguitars and @guitarspecialistinc…

Local builder mandolin neck reset
Okay, update time. Finally carved out some time to heat the neck off. Unfortunately it didn’t give me much evidence as to the cause of the neck releasing. At this point I’m suspicious that the neck block could’ve come loose perhaps, however I’ll admit at this juncture I’m beyond my expertise to diagnose. Amy ideas from you mandolin people would be awesome.

I watched the Guild F-20 video (https://dev.loothgroup.com/groups/repair-and-restoration/forum/topic/cracker-x-braces-on-guild-f20/#post-60310) with great interest since I’ve been working on a Gibson L-3 with a similar problem.
A little back story – The original repair request was to address a small pickguard crack on the sound hole side.…

Need advice on my first repair job
It makes me realize how spoiled we are here in America. I shouldn’t complain as to the time it takes to get stuff and that I can get it at all.

Pic of area behind bridge after repair. The gap is 1/16th+ below flat. It was dead flat after guitar was strung up. The same thing in the front of the bridge. The gap was 1/16th+ above flat. I lucked out and guessed right.

Just did a top flattening on a 1964 Gibson D45 12 string that had an extremely sunken/bulged top and loose braces much like your situation. It had loose, but not broken, bracing around the bridge sound hole location. I went for the whole enchilada instead of just going for a standard “belly repair” of just the bridge area because the…
