Custom Headless neck for Ibanez 7 string
Hey Loothers,
A client reached out requesting a neck with wider nut for his headless Ibanez 7 string. He would like it built with rosewood for the neck and the fret board which has been stored for years at a consistent 45 to 50 % humidity in his home. The frets are angled to make it play more ergonomically but it is not a multi scale…

Strat pickgaurd 2 p90s, one volume and 3 way switch
Anyone know where to purchase something like this?
Also, I think the “maker” place in town has a 3d printer, has anyone had luck printing pickguards?

Fast set up glue jig for hide glue
I’ve been trying to figure out an easy to use jig that will allow me to clamp a top and back fast, so that I can use hot hide glue. No way with my spool clamp method I could ever get everything clamped in time. I thought about trying to use pneumatic cylinders with 3D printed perimeter feet, but that seemed very complicated and a lot of work…

Ray Cutler started the discussion laminated linings in the forum Acoustic Builds 8 months ago
Is anyone out there using laminated linings? I’ve done them a couple times before, gluing the in place one at a time. I use 4 pieces/side, approx 1.7mm each. I like this better than 3 piece and I haven’t tried 2 piece yet. Do any of you glue them together as opposed to gluing them to the sides one length at a time? It seems that would be…

Gabby Losch Losch Guitars started the discussion 3-pickup wiring help needed in the forum Electric Builds 8 months ago
Hey everyone! I’m finishing up my latest build and looking for help with the wiring. It’s a 3-pickup configuration with a standard 3-position toggle switch. The plan is for 3 pots: master volume, master tone, and a volume just for the middle pickup (as a blend so that it can be added in any position). The 3-way toggle will be a standard Neck…

Using melamine edge banding for purfling?
I have some rolls of black and white melamine edge banding and was thinking of trying to make some BWB purfling.
Has anyone done this before? More importantly, is this a really dumb idea? 😂

Justin (Ju’s Woodshop) started the discussion Cutaway vs. Scoop cutaway in the forum Acoustic Builds 8 months ago
Thinking of trying a scoop cutaway on my current acoustic build. I actually planned to do it but I’m having second thoughts. I have no issues bending a cutaway. Question for those who have done it – is the higher end of the fretboard still comfortably accessible with the scoop and, is there any perceptive difference in sound by saving that small…

Video: Measuring Long, Cross, and Transverse Modes + Thickness Calculator
Hey folks,
I put together a video showing how I measure the long, cross, and transverse frequencies on guitar top plates before thicknessing, following the Gore method. I also walk through using the calculator I built (based on Trevor Gore’s equations) to get target thickness and track density / young’s modulus.
Fair warning: the video’s a bit…
