Hey everyone. I’m wondering if anyone has a good recommendation for a water based finish that buffs nicely. I currently use lacquer but I’d rather use something less toxic. One finish that’s come up in my research is General Finishes Enduro line. Has anybody used that before?

Do you guys put a date on your inside label?

I dyed an East Indian Rosewood bridge black to match the Blackwood fretboard before gluing it on*. The bridge is now glued to the top. What are some ways to “fix” that dye into the wood. I’m not crazy about TruOil – up to 40% mystery oil…..

*I did a sample on rosewood with 4 different “dyes” and they were all stable, would not rub off…

I picked up a few samples of the Hard Wax Oil from LED Coating Solutions. I wondered if anyone has experience with this product, specifically with mixing liquid dyes to customize the finish.

I’d prefer to tint the clear finishes as needed instead of buying so many samples (they are a bit pricey).

Has anyone had any experience using a color dye in TruOil? And if so, how did it work for you? I have been dying an electric bass body with Rit black dye, but once the TruOil started going on, the color started moving around leaving lighter spots. Any thoughts or advice?
