Not exactly 3D Printing but it’s the closest sub-category. After backing an Indiegogo project back in August, my Seal Lite finally arrived!

My first impression is that this thing is pretty freaking cool. I tested it out after skimming the tutorial (because that’s the true test of interface ) and received halfway decent results. I put maybe 20-25 minutes of use on it this evening, and I’m excited to give it a more proper dive over the weekend.

From watching some general 3D scanner tips/tricks/use videos in the past, I understand that they often have trouble with dark and reflective objects. I figured it would be fitting for my first scan to be a CNC-rough ebony bridge I had laying around. Check the results; I’m satisfied!

That’s really cool. I have items I want to turn into designs that would be tricky to draw. I’m looking at the cost. Are they around $500?

Current pricing is $359 for the standalone scanner. Here’s a link!

I agree that it would be hard not to get infatuated with using it. I’d be looking around the shop for things to scan and then make!!! Oh wait, guitars right. That’s the focus.

I think for that price you could consider scanning things for a fee. I have these drawer pulls that I love and want to use the design for a tailpiece. It would probably be easier to scan it. Any interest? I could mail it to you.

Check out Super fast Matt on YouTube, he has a bunch of scanner comparisons. That looks cool!
