PETG Glue

Just wondering what people are using for gluing PETG?

I had the unfortunate realization that some parts I decided to print in PETG from makerworld needed to be glued. The super glues I have didn’t work and then everything else close by basically said “not for use on pe”. I found people saying PVC primer worked so I grabbed some at the hardware store and left some test parts clamped overnight. Rock solid this morning but it definitely needed overnight. I think there’s some other options that are maybe more instant but they seem a bit pricey and after going down the forums/youtube rabbit hole, I don’t think I can really trust the advice I’ve seen because people are all over the place on recommendations.

For now I’ll just use this purple primer and be more careful when I print petg stuff.

I usually try to design with mechanical connections for petg.

If it requires something that needs to be glued, I use abs.

ABS has more options for gluing and can be vapor smoothed.

Thanks, I think that’s going to be the way I go from now on. Lesson learned here. I’m probably going to just reprint this thing in PLA for now. The pvc primer worked great on the test piece, but it’s going to be tricky to actually use with this print.
