Hey folks- just picked this file out of a closing shop. Anyone know what it was intended for? It’s diamond coated, tapered on all sides. Thanks

I think that was an attempt at a nut file. Kind of like the old Ibanez/Hosco style, but in diamond.

Not sure what the ‘real’ name is – I have one from another maker I just call my ‘feather’ file. I find it really useful for cutting very finely located ‘registration slots’ when i want a really accurate repeatable location (like for a fret slot template for example).

Can’t tell from the photo how sharp your edge comes to – mine has very sharp edges

<div>To me it looks like a file to sharpen japanese saws. Similar to this one</div>
