Lifting print

Hey yall, having some print adhesion problems. I have heard of this problem but I have never had it happen to me yet. Using a endet 3 Neo. Printing on their glass plate. Everything always sticks super good to it. I printed 2 prototypes of this print and they went pretty well. Using a different filament and it’s failed 3 times now. Usually around the 4th layer. I tried raising the bed heat to 70, but it didn’t help. Maybe @ianhatesguitars has some advice

has your filament been sitting outside for a while? It can pick up humidity and cause problems.

there’s all sorts of calibration tests you can download from thingiverse that can help you pinpoint the problem (and usually are faster to run than trying to print a big part).

But if you switched filaments and you’re having a problem it seems likely your filament isn’t good.

What Paul said. I was having problems with warping and tracked it down to damp filament. I’m also finding that dried filament isn’t quite as good a freshly opened.

One last thing. What plastic ? Are you trying to print something that needs an enclosure to keep from warping ?

The brim is helping the outside but these little guys inside are lifting. It’s Probly the filament. It’s been open about a month. I keep it in a ziplock with the silica. But Probly doesn’t help much. I used some glue stick, turned up the bed, and turned off the fan for the first few layers. This progress pic is the best I have had from this spool.

I was having adhesion issues on my Ender 3 after about 18 months of flawless printing. The culprit for me was the coating on the bed and I read from other users that this is a common issue. Perhaps this is the case with your setup as well. To remedy things, I flipped my glass bed over (texture side down, now) and every print I now make, I first give the bed a light coat with a glue stick. Windex on some paper towel dissolves the glue in short order for clean-up between prints. I’ve not had an adhesion issue since.

Ahhh the smooth side. I will try that if the one I am running now doesn’t work. I am trying a slightly newer filament. We will see how it goes

I got the print to work very cleanly. I printed the first few layers without the fan. Then had it at a lower setting. I put an inner and outer brim on, which I think was the secret ingredient. Had the bed temp raised up. And I did swap out for a newer filament. To be honest, after changing the settings I don’t know if it would have made a difference or not. I will Probly try running one with these settings in the other Filament later to see if it makes a difference or not.

Hiya! Try slowing down initial layer speeds, increase bed temp, make sure bed level is perfectly flat. Change to a fresh brass nozzle,(I’ll change mine at least once a month) increase surface area of brim with tabs plugin. Make sure filament is super dry, and printing environment is at a constant temp and humidity.
