3D Printed Neck Shims?

I have searched the forums and was not able to find any discussion about 3D printing neck shims.

This made me wonder if with the proper density of infill, may be a viable option. Or is this just taboo?

appreciate hearing others thoughts on this

Would this be for electrical or acoustical guitars ?

    Electric,

I wondered if a solid infill would be acceptable.

I think it could def work. I bet some tone snobs might have an issue, but whatevs. I’d be willing to try it. You need help modeling ?

Agreed, I just wanted to male aure this wasn’t a question for profiling. Like Jazz on the juke box in Taledega Nights 😊

I will take a run at it, and pass along if successful. I use Sketchup, need to get in the Fusion train.

Just finished first attempt at a neck shim. This is 1 degree, solid infill.

I will post, and work on 1/2 and 1/4 degree as well. Change fill to 100, and must be rectilinear.

One thing you might try is changing the orientation to have it on the side. You might print it as a block of 5 so it self supports and then split after. I bet @patreon_41670846 might know how to do that.

Good call, I expect that will eliminate the layer lines to make the angle.

I will try that, and once improved, will do other degrees as well.

Yea we would just want to put a slight gap in-between them, say .2mm, could even have some support materials in the middle for easy separation

I’ve got a parametric angled shim for fusion . Been meaning to upload to loothprint, I’ll try and do that this weekend 👍
