Would you have any recommendations on wiring configurations and piezo controllers to replace the electronics in my Music Man Reflex, which used to have the Game Changer system? The guitar has an HSH pickup configuration with a piezo bridge pickup. It has three existing holes for Volume/Tone/Blend, a blade switch slot, and a 3-way switch hole.

When I bought this guitar about a decade ago, the Game Changer system offered a mind-numbingly awesome amount of pickup configuration options via a PC/USB connection. A few years back, software support for the instrument was discontinued, and eventually, the hardware failed, resulting in no sound output.

It has sat for a couple of years without much being done, but I’d like to get it working again. Given the original capabilities, I’m hesitant to simply install a basic switch, a few pots, and a cap, as that feels like a half-hearted approach.

What HSH wiring configuration would you recommend to restore a good range of this guitar’s functionality? I believe the pickups are DiMarzio, as used by Music Man. Are there any suitable piezo systems I should consider for the bridge saddle piezo system? I welcome any suggestions.

Hi Cory, Look into the Fishman Powerchip Powerbridge Mixer. It will power and control the Piezo and integrates with a passive pickup. One of the best features is that it will send out the signals in mono or stereo automatically depending on the jack configuration. Amazon has one left. You might want to inquire on the impedance match but I’d guess it should be good to go. pd

You might even consider the Free-Way switch such as on StewMac. 5-way/10-position switch, lots of wiring options there.

That is a pretty interesting switch! I’ll have to look more into that. Thanks!
