Sand through on maple veneer
Any thoughts on disguising this sand-through? It’s got a black veneer under the wood veneer that is showing through a little. Part of it will be covered by the tuner bushing. Clear finish.

Does it have to look like that piece of wood ? You could paint some fake stuff on it, or you could reveneer it or paint the whole thing a solid color.

It’s a custom build that was damaged in shipping, so yeah it needs to be convincing. I was hired to refinish the face of the headstock for the buyer. Apparently the veneer was super thin in that area so I sanded through it really fast.
