    Hi Gang,

I hope someone can help me fix my f**kup. This is a new build. I burned the top trying to steam out a dent preparing for finishing. At least the dent is gone. I started sanding, but it wasn’t going away. I looked on the inside and I see a little discoloration, so it goes all the way through. It is just north of the tail block. Is a “decorative Inlay” my only solution? I will await suggestions while I reevaluate my life choices.

  • How about a sunburst! Almost perfect color match for the Tobacco Brown around the edge. I’ve sprayed a few myself, let me know if youhave any questions.

    Thanks Dave.

I don’t think that is the best option here. It is a tenor ukulele. It’s possible but I am not sure if it would look good or not. Currently I’m leaning towards inlaying a volcano shape since the burn is close to the centerline at the tail. I will certainly keep the sunburst in mind though.

You might try a little of the two part wood bleach. Test on some similar spruce first though. https://www.amazon.com/Zinsser-300451-Wood-Bleach/dp/B01MXDS72Z/ref=sr_1_1_sspa

Thank you Ian. I’ll give that stuff a try.

I did a gouge scoopy on a guitar I dropped a clamp on the top of. I used the loctite gel CA that Ian recommends. It’s definitely not invisible but really not super noticeable. The guitar is french polished. It doesn’t stick out particularly at all.

Definitely important which CA you use. The gel stuff does not penetrate the surrounding wood at all.

    Thanks Paul. Good to know.

In this case that isn’t an option. This is a commission. I am working with my customer on his preference.
