    Ok. I am stumped.

PRS Studio is in. 3 pickups. 5-way selector switch. 2 pots.

    Here’s the dilemma:

Customer wants two concentric pots installed.

The front pot would be volume for the neck & middle pickups on the top knob, the bridge volume bottom knob.

The rear knob is for tone. Top knob controls neck & middle pickups tone, bottom controls the bridge tone.

I’ve gotten the skeleton of this sort of figured out but I don’t….ha ha?

The PRS 5-way switch is odd, from what I can tell. 4 tabs on each side. But they do not have continuity to each other. And they would like to keep the volumes independent of each other.

Is there any way to get this wired up without replacing the switch? Customer is adamant to keep it.

    Thanks as always!

I’m shooting from the hip here a bit but I’m inclined to say that this should be doable. As for the PRS 5 way switch, if it’s what I think it is, I’d probably just tell the customer that it benefits all parties to make this as simple as possible and to replace it. This isn’t going to be easy in general and what would the customer really know about it? Side rant, why do the PRS people never seem to be happy with the electronics? They have all these options at their fingertips from the factory but then they want a whole new set of options. I don’t get it man…

I’m on the same page. I’m comfortable with giving them the “truth”, just wondering if the PRS switch was capable. And yeah…..why with the non standard electronics PRS?

Bumping this up because I’m a bit in the weeds with this. Any suggestions for wiring this is appreciated. Thanks.

Hey Mike, you said you had a skeleton of this figured out. Do you have a wiring diagram you could share? Two things: Jumping on the Loothalong and talking with people there is never a bad idea. There’s usually folks on all hours of the day who can provide solid advice. Also, I may be able to draw something up for you if need be, although I can’t guarantee it would be perfect, I could likely get something pretty close to what is desired. Then we could work from there.

      Any thoughts here @ianhatesguitars ?

Thank you. I have something drawn up, but away from the bench for a bit. Let me follow up soon.

My initial sketches aren’t making sense…..

Trying to isolate the Neck/Middle from the Bridge is becoming difficult. There may be a way to isolate each side of the switch to their respective pots, but I am not seeing the solution.

        This is a crude start:
