I’ve got this Telecaster pickup (1969). The pickup works. Is it possible to flatten the top without gluing it down to the windings? Clamping lightly with a caul slotted for the magnets seats it nicely but I’m not sure how to make it stay there. Any experience with this? Suggestions?

If it’s working, you don’t really want to. Plenty of people manage to cla.p down the ends and hit the pole pieces with super glue. And that can work. You run the risk of breaking the internal coil wire though and it’s just not worth it IMHO. Unless you don’t mind the risk of a rewind.

Thank you Joel – yeah I don’t want to make things worse in the long run or leave some surprise down the road that’s not reversible.
