Black Nut Material

I’ve had good success dying finished bone nuts black using a mixture of black leather dye and black trans-tint dye. The caveat being the nut needs to be fully finished before the dyeing process and it takes a several days for the dye to penetrate adequately.

I use 4 oz canning jars and heat the dying solution before I place the nut in my solution. When the jar cools it creates a vacuum that I think helps the dye penetrate faster.

You can use any color you like using this method.
