Gibson Banner Bridge plate overlay removal
I’ll relay a tip someone passed on to me, sorry I don’t remember who did, but it works wonders. Cut a sponge the exact size of your plate so no water will drip around.

When do you make the call to pull a lifting bridge and reglue?
I’m with Ian. I do a lot of bridge reglues and don’t even bother to consider injecting glue. There’s always a reason why the bridge is lifting and it has to be addressed. More than anything else, I see too little wood-to-wood contact, either an ill-fitted bridge or too much finish remaining under the bridge.
But then, I’m not working on vintage…

Fret pressing at heel transition
I’m going to go outside the lines on this one a little.
I press frets in in the drill press and I use a fairly standard neck rest. One thing I do that is different is I tap on the arbor . This winds up requiring much less force from the actual pressing action and as a result much less need for fancy support, although it still comes up.…

Fret pressing at heel transition
Please can I see some quick cauls for dealing with fret pressing at heel transitions?
For pressed / glued in frets or clamping down lifting fret ends in this area.
I’ve tried a few different methods now and not entirely happy with any of them

When do you make the call to pull a lifting bridge and reglue?
I’m not sure if there is a good rule of thumb for when it’s ok to slip a little glue under a slightly lifting bridge.
Couple things to note (I would only do this on a really cheap guitar) if it was glued with something like titebond, the only way to reglue a titebond joint, without cleaning the old glue out, is with epoxy. Then your joint is…

When do you make the call to pull a lifting bridge and reglue?
Hey y’all, I’ve got a mid budget lefty acoustic in the shop for some work and one of the bridge wings is starting to pull up.
I know some people are content to just squeeze some glue under and reclamp, but from what I can see underneath it the finish goes back a long way before we even start to touch the wood, if ever. So I’m leaning…

Hopefully I’m not overreaching and assuming. If I am, I apologize.
It’s a good “ballpark” idea. Dan’s relocating an adjustable bridge so he’s using a method to get him close quickly because he knows he has “adjustability”. This method is specific to this situation. Locating a fixed, single saddle has more pieces to it. For instance, the…

Right. The BC Rich Bronze had a wrap around bridge with individual saddles for each string. The studs were tilting towards the nut so I pulled them and used a dowell to plug the holes. I’ve put together parts-casters before and all of them had pilot hole or were used bodies so placing the bridge was easy. This is the first time I have had…

Dalton,
I totally missed this. I am really sorry. Usually, when I do a Gretsch rebind, I use Loctite gel CA. I do small sections, one lamination at a time and I am careful with the glue. If you are careful, the squeeze out squeezes straight up, barely intersecting with the finish. You can then wipe it away across the binding. You can also…
