Using melamine edge banding for purfling?

Using melamine edge banding for purfling?
I have some rolls of black and white melamine edge banding and was thinking of trying to make some BWB purfling.
Has anyone done this before? More importantly, is this a really dumb idea? 😂

I think it’s an interesting idea. One side of melamine is definitely designed to be stick resistant, but with scuffing, it could stick.

That’s a good point, hadn’t thought about the face side being plastic-y/non-stick. Ill report back when I find out (off the guitar first of course!)
