    Before I worked at Breedlove, the labels were dated. They quit because it put dealers at a disadvantage with the customer on account of they could tell how long the guitar had been hanging in their shop.

    The tops were dated on the inside though in a spot you could only see with an inspection mirror.

    I worked in a shop and Ian’s comment is really accurate. Taylor used to do seasonal limited guitars and the fall limited could run late and arrive in winter etc etc and customers would use it to bargain.

    If you are selling through dealers I would make it a little hard to determine. If you sell them directly to customers then it likely matters less.

    I put my signature and a (month/year) date on the inside of the soundboard below the bottom tone arm. No date on the label.
