Go bar deck bars source?

I’ve used thin plywood slats forever in my go bar deck, but I think I’m ready to try fiberglass bars. What’s the consensus on a good source for these? Also for some reason, I seem to remember seeing someone using fiberglass slats. Maybe they were manufactured for sail stays? As in on a sailboat. Thanks in advance for any ideas.

I use fiberglass driveway markers from Lowes or Home Depot. They work great and are cheap and easy to get. If you want some extra padding dip them in a tool coating.

Also, in the “closet shelving” section of Lowe’s (not Home Depot) they sell plastic end tips that are designed to fit over the ends of wire shelving. They fit the fiber glass rods perfectly.
My fiberglass rods are from Harbor Freight – they are used for fishing wires through electrical conduits.

Great to hear! My one thought about them is I would love it if they were a little stiffer, but heck, I just double up – they’re cheap enough. Gawd, we love our improvised tools!

It’s been years, but I bought mine online from a kite supplier called “funwithwind” funwithwind.com. I don’t see that they have the rods in stock anymore. Mine were 48″ black 3/16″ rod and I bought the black rubber tips for them as well. Cut them to the size I needed.
