Straight Frets started an expansion into a second city with a second Plek machine at the start of 2024. The initial spot had the wrong landlords that would not honor their HVAC agreement, and subsequently the failing HVAC units made prior to 9/11 never allowed the Grand Opening Event to happen. After bailing out of the wrong spot 7 months later, we are now up and running in a much cleaner location with a brand new HVAC, much closer into the city. We are still looking for the right guy (or gal) to run the Plek and day to day operations. This is a salary position that has a $25K base salary, and a bonus check half way through the month that’s reflective of 60% of all non Plek work, in addition to a significant monthly bonus that is based on how many guitars were on the Plek machine the previous month. At the point 4 guitars are on the machine daily, the salary is close to $90K annually.

Straight Frets Austin is a total of 4 luthiers, and another 5 that are subcontracted, in addition to 3 amp techs. One of my setup guys travels to Houston each week to teach guitars and brings beck the more detailed stuff for now.
Looking for someone who’s great with people, follows directions, has dependable transportation, and is willing to stay in Austin for a few weeks while being trained on the Plek. I can offer the guest room in my home if need be.
