Are there any low budget pickup options for percussive acoustic players ?
I’m looking for something to pickup the body sounds from a percussive acoustic guitar player. The guitar already has a piezo so whatever I found would work alongside that.
I suggested an LR Baggs anthem or a K&K Trinity and they’re a bit pricey for the client.
Has anyone found anything on a low budget that works well?
Anybody had experience with cheaper bridge plate mounted transducers vs. the K&K Trinity?

One thing that occurs to me, but is really untested, is to get some cheap elements off of Amazon and just daisy chain them together.

The budget piezo elements can often be a bit ‘over-sensitive’ and shrill. If that’s the case, I’ve sometimes dampened them by sandwiching something a little more absorbent between them and the top. Even a spongy sticky pad or some extra layers of double-stick tape might work for percussive stuff.
Can also try covering their backs with something like putty or a blob of silicone sealant or similar.

a bit of putty will help with testing them out in different spots too. Good to know it won’t completely deaden the response.

or like Ian said daisy chain a few transducers and try different positions on the top.

That seems like a cool pickup and some have sold on ebay for relatively cheap. Thanks for the heads up Andy
