Work History

Employer

Guitar Clinic Denver, CO (now defunct) Taylor Guitars

Job Description

True apprenticeship (as in working for free in the beginning)

Owner had graduated the Redwing School of Lutherie, he trained me. It was a 2 man operation the entire time was there. Small repair shop with some used guitars/amps & consignments. Some accessories. We were pretty much on our own, the Kamimoto book and Dan’s book. Other repairmen were pretty tight lipped about offering advice. And obviously there was no internet… Started in Final Assembly 3 years.

Set 4 neck angles, glue up 4 guitars, fret, nut, saddle, tuners, electronics, 4 guitars per day.

19 Years in Warranty Repair Dept.

2 Years in Product Development as Andy Powers assistant but did many other related tasks as well.

I also set up a full shop with spray booth, buffers at home (15 years of working after work and weekends). We all had to subsidize our meager wages with side work to barely afford the cost of living in SoCal…
