thank you both for the help. I came upon a Beau Hannam video and followed his method. I first bent the 8 total pieces using my Fox bender. I put the first laminate in unglued and then glued the next 3 pieces to the unglued one in order following the form of the body. after I had the four glued up I removed the set and will clean them up and put a roundover on the bottom edge then glue them in to the side. I hope my description makes sense. Mr. Bashkin I look forward to meeting you in September at MASW

Thanks Michael. My mic is recognized. When I went to Device Properties I turned the setting up to 96 and did their test showing 48%. I haven’t gone any further. I have to apologize, something has come up here and I doubt that I will be able to work on this any longer tonight. If you have any more advice I will get back to it first thing in the morning. Thank you for helping

Michael, no I don’t. I’m using the CNC for Luthiers course on Robbie O’Briens site. Bob Mizek presented the course. There is a section on there about doing fretboards. It gives all the info I need I just need to follow instructions. Can you tell me what gadget you’re talking about? I would like to get to the point where I can actually carve the neck if I want to. I think that involves adding a 4th axis.

I want to thank both of you for your help. A rookie mistake. I had set a previous cut of the fretboard outline to ‘outside’ and forgot that it carried over to the next toolpath. I redid it and set it to ‘on the line’ and its all good now. Thanks again

I finally got back to actually doing this job but I’m having trouble. I have a toggle switch , A, B, and AB. I have no problem with the neck or bridge alone but together I only get one pickup but if I tap on the covers they are both ‘live’. If I get sound thru the neck pickup I can adjust the volume using the bridge pot. both pots seem to act as somewhat of a master volume?? I checked continuity on the switch before wiring anything and it was working fine. Maybe grounding something I shouldn’t be? Its all pretty new to me. Thank you for any advice.
In the end I’m wanting to have neck, bridge, and both together and adjustable with each pickups volume control

Thanks Al. The urethane was actually at my suggestion since I had just finished a class with Jeff Jewitt and Robbie O’Brien where urethane was used. After looking into it he told me he wanted urethane so that was that. I have used Mohawk Instrument Lacquer in the past and it worked out good, just a long cure time. Some friends from the class don’t seem to be entirely sold on urethane but I like it

OK, thanks. I did what you said and i definitely have a connection to my mic into REW. I went to the RTA tab and am getting a reading on the graph but I don’t know what I’m reading yet. I will study on it but as far as the mic connection goes, I think its good. Thanks again for all you help

Paul, no I haven’t. Everything seems to be on the money if I do my part and enter the correct info. Thanks

I bought the ones Elaine described and removed my first dovetail with them. No problems, they worked fine however they are very flimsy so you must be careful with them. I used just one of them to do the job plugged straight in with no heat control.
-
Thanks Elaine. Do you ever find a need to adjust the heat where you might want the Pro version?
-
Thanks Jeff. I was afraid of an issue like that. Is there anything else I would need to know as far as compatibility with the urethane is concerned?

<div>Thanks Jeff. One of the guitars is completed sanded smooth of its old finish and feels like the pores are filled, the other still has the old finish on it but its in terrible shape. I;m going to have to get most of it off there. At that point I will go ahead and spray both with isolante and then the color. Would a quart cover both? Can i spray urethane over the auto paint? Thanks again
