In other words, I don’t think you’ll have access to that many tools and space when working for GC. On the other hand, you may have a salary and benefits. You’ll have to decide what’s best for you. Or maybe try to work out a referral deal with them. That way you get to work at your own shop and charge your own fees.

MemberJuly 24, 2024 at 12:56 pm in reply to: Taking in work from local shopsI do work like that with a couple of music stores here in Juárez and El Paso. Also a local tech, I do all his refrets. In my experience it is very simple, since it’s just referral work, a handshake and good will works the best. I do not sell guitars, so whenever a customer needs a new guitar instead of a repair I send the over those two music stores.
Hope that helps. -

MemberJuly 24, 2024 at 12:52 pm in reply to: Regluing Taylor bridges and others with embedded electronicsIf I remember correctly, those electronics slide down from the interior, so you can re glue and do the mods necessary, after that I suggest cleaning all holes and indentations with drill bit and round files, slide them trough again and you are set, there may be some screws to set in place (can’t remember right now)
Look I found a pic of a preamp like that on my photos. Shoot me a message if I can help any further. -

MemberAugust 27, 2023 at 8:22 pm in reply to: CNC machine which one.I have an Openbuilds Lead 1010. It is intimidating at first to ensamble the machine, but the online tutorials are great. What sets this machine apart is the people behind Openbuilds, they are very knowledgeable and very kind, tech support and customer service are amazing. Once you get a hold of the basics, you get a lot from your machine, I have built some tools with it, templates, I even figured out a way to machine guitar nuts. You’ll need a great computer, software and patience. Their free browser based CAM is one of the best I’ve seen, and if you complement it with Inventable’s Easel, you’ll have a great combo there.
