have you checked the pickup height? Try lowering them as much as possible and see if the magnetism was the culprit. Have you tried a different set of strings?

No, super easy. Just be careful with the pickup element. I also tend to super glue the controls under the rosette. Just a couple of drops of medium viscosity super glue with the adhesive they provide.

Hey, I have installed a bunch, scrape the finish off the bottom of it

as sometimes the plating is non conductive thus killing the string ground. Hope this helps!
