when setting up acoustic guitars, from time to time I have a lot of trouble with getting the G string to ring true when fretted. Starting from lower frets and at its worst at about the 5/6th fret, the G string buzzes when plucked “heavily” (when no other string does so)…most recently a Taylor 724 which had a neck adjustment to reduce action…

Would I be right in guessing this guard is an aftermarket job? It seems to have a stiff clear acrylic underlay (for want of a better word) – the guard itself is very flimsy and just doesn’t look right? I don’t have a lot of experience with this so would appreciate those with more commenting…
cheers,
Steve.

Taylor GS Mini - Acceptable belly bulge
I’ve had a mini come in for setup…I know that the minis in particular are designed with top (lower bout) and back “bulge”…I’m wondering if anyone knows the “acceptable” (Taylor factory) range for this?
cheers, Steve

G’day…I have a nice old Burny LP in that is showing some rot in the fingerboard binding, with some on the body binding as well…
I’m looking to stabilise things for now (I understand that eventually, it will all turn to dust)…thinking about: acetone applied sparingly to cracks, Duco cement (not really sure here…maybe try to just adhere…

Model is “The ’80”. Daion built some nice guitars in the 70’s and 80’s out of a small shop in Japan. Nice old all mahogany 12 string. It’s my instrument so doing a bolt on conversion. Forget about trying to get the neck off one of these (apart from Kung Fu) – neck construction seems to be based on multiple dowels (a bit like some…
