I used to build with the straightedge just grazing the top of the bridge like a lot of folks show you to do, but taller saddles are preferred by most of my dealers.

I use it over their polyester sealer which I’m sure is similar to Simtech. I like the Ilva sealer the best. Use my name if you want.

That way they will sell you a basecoat/clearcoat color. The terminology used in auto finishing is different as they have basecoat, primer-coat, single-stage, etc.

I would use an isolante sealer first or get the pores/grain filled. For grain filler you can use just about any product, but I would lay a coat of isolante over that first before the color.

I don’t like amber or Vintage Amber for the center color. I find a better center color with 1 part Vintage Amber to 1 part Golden Brown works best. Alternatively Dark Vintage Maple is pretty close.
To me – to match the Martin, Id start with one of those approaches for the center color and then do your outside perimeter in Tobacco brown (Dark Mission Brown Transtint). Then come back and do the transition color with Reddish Brown Transtint with maybe a bit of Medium Brown in it.
The Following is a Cross Reference Chart for ColorTone to TransTint
ColorTone – TransTint
Vintage Amber – Honey Amber
Red Mahogany – Reddish Brown
Tobacco Brown – Dark Mission Brown
Cherry Red – Bright Red
Bright Green – Green
Coral Reef Blue – Aqua
Electric Violet – Violet
All the others are named the same in both ColorTone and TransTint
