Fingerboard clean up
Hello all, im doing my first refret and im stumped on what to do after removing the frets.
I know im supposed to give it a light sand with a radius block. Im assuming the next step is buffing the fingerboard. Can anyone point me in the right direction as to which buffer wheels I would need to do this? Thanks!

It really depends on the condition of the fretboard and what it needs. I don’t think most people buff the fretboard as a practice during a refret. I don’t. I use a file and smooth out any burrs caused from pulling the frets. Also, if you have any chips or damage on the edges of the fret slots, fix that. Then clean the fret slots out and make sure they are deep enough for your new fretwire. I also use a v-shaped file and slightly chamfer the edges of the fret slots before installing new ones. This helps prevent chip-out if you have to pull one back out (or for the next guy!)

Yes I have seen that technique it seems there’s no downsides to it, so I will be trying it. I haven’t yet bought a triangle file to do it yet. Thanks for your input. Is any triangle file fine?
