Hey all. I have an ’82 Ibanez Roadster bass on the bench. The bridge pickup is their Super J4. My customer wants to tame the noise as much as possible. I’ve shielded the cavities to minimal effect so I’m thinking of wax potting it but before I do I just want to ask your opinions. The bobbin is quite thin and I don’t know what kind of material…

Are you trying to test for signal to make sure it works before installing it? If you have a spare quick connect clip you can wire in a battery clip and output jack, then ring a tuning fork over it with the jack plugged into a tuner or amp.

Maybe a dull topic but I just happened to find this Conn Strobotuner at an antique shop for a “decent” price. Works great, not sure if I’ll use it in place of the peterson strobe app on my ipad but in conjunction for certain jobs .
What do you all use as your main bench tuner?
