Does anyone else here enjoy customizing low-cost guitars as much as I do? Amazon Squier Debut Strat with custom-made pickguard to add mini-humbuckers.

I dig it! I actually made two videos for my YouTube channel covering this guitar when I first got it and the mods I’ve done to it since:
https://youtu.be/RbWgFjFPNDgI’m planning on replacing all the pickups including the Duncan I put in it. My right hand tends to press down on the strings causing them to hit the polepieces/blades and causes…

I totally agree! I put a “Flag” on an inexpensive short-scall bass for my son when he was first learning bass and guitar – this little thing sounds amazing, believe it or not! 🙂
Oh, and yes, I only paid $99 for it!

Finished! I decided to make it a 6-way switch to access coil split on the neck humbucker. Almost looks like it was meant to be that way.

Add in sleep time and meals, I only have about 4 hours a day for everything else. What do you do to get motivated to be in the workshop?

Any suggestions for how to even out the color, or maybe use an ebonizer? And would an ebonizer even work with the Mahogany Oil that is already there? I’m not wanting…

My original 1984 Peavey, my 2006 copy with crazy switching, and my 2007 bass version. I have to say, the copies are what I consider 10-footers, but the experience of building them was what mattered then.

My prior attempt at making a one piece pickguard for a Mustang bass. I rushed it a bit and got wobbly edges, but i think it looks better all white than it did before.
