Fretboard relief
Is there a consensus about sanding some relief directly into the fretboard versus having a perfectly straight fretboard and getting all the relief from the…

Both yes and no. If you watch my video on sanding out fingerboards I am constantly adjusting the truss rod to make sure it's working exactly how I want it through completely slack to back-bowed. I also don't… Read more

I've done the back bow a-go-go on acoustics without truss rods where it's hard to get relief because of back bow. Although I've been fairly successful at using heat to get relief back into the neck. The neck… Read more

Hey everyone! I’m finishing up my latest build and looking for help with the wiring. It’s a 3-pickup configuration with a standard 3-position toggle switch. The plan is for 3 pots: master volume, master tone, and a volume just for the middle pickup (as a blend so that it can be added in any position). The 3-way toggle will be a standard Neck…

This is a simple but effective setup for cutting fret slots quickly and accurately. Ryobi table saw with a crosscut sled and saw blade with a kerf to match fret slot thickness. The sled has an indexing pin for using fret scale templates with notches. The blade alone sells for $163 on Stew Mac. I also have another blade for sale.

I have the v1 in my kitchen for particularly smokey foods, and it has worked quite well in the shop, too, so I was thinking of getting the new model to keep in the shop.
Then I saw what Weller…

Anyone have a solder fume extractor they particularly like? I just finished a roll of lead-free solder and switched to a leaded core, so I want to be extra cautious about the fumes. Thanks!
