I always consider that as I build, I also learn guitar repair. I would do a new bridge or reset the neck, whichever is easier. And I have had to do both on new builds.

total of 21mm thick for the neck at the 1st fret. 5mm- 6 mm for the fretboard and 15 -16 mm for the neck.

I make acoustic guitars, which are 21mm at the 1st fret. If the fretboard is 5mm, which leaves 16mm for the neck, plus a truss rod that is 10 mm, which leaves only 6 mm of wood behind the truss rod, I wouldn’t want less than that.

I’ll reply: The thicker the fretboard, the thinner the neck will be. I would be more concerned with thinning out the neck. That mass is going to have to come from somewhere.
