Yeah… I’ve checked both and had no luck.

Turns out the bridge pickup had a lead wire that was on the verge of breaking so the pickup was intermittent. Separate issue probably anyway

    Thanks for the replies guys.

What we’re trying to achieve is:

    Bridge

    Bridge split

    Middle only

Neck and Bridge together (preferably split)

    Neck

Bridge volume – with push pull blower bypass

    Neck and Middle volume

    Bridge tone

Gerry at some point I really need to purchase your book!

The Bridge is a Seymour Duncan, so the I believe I have the color codes correct there

The two singles are early Dimarzio HS-2, but I copied the configuration from the original wiring harness, but I will double check myself a little later when I have the chance

Here’s some pictures, please don’t mind the fried wires, I’ve been troubleshooting this all day

I changed some of the colors around in the diagram, these are old Dimarzio HS-2 and seem to have a different color code than the modern ones, I used the same wires as the original wiring harness. The guitar being a MIJ Strat with the S1 tremolo

The baffling thing is that I sent a video to the customer of me testing every position and the blower switch and everything worked in the video…

Sorry for the crude paint drawing, did this on my laptop with a trackpad haha

    The pots are all grounded

I think I covered everything I did, let me know if this is too confusing

edit: I noticed a mistake, the wire and jumper coming from the bridge tone should be one lug over

    e2: fixed it

I figured out the push pull switch, I needed to flip the diagram upside down essentially.

Customer wanted me to do a volume for neck/middle instead of tone. Now the bridge is split on the 1 position of the switch, and full on the 2?? And when I use the blower switch on any other position it’s lost volume! I didn’t change anything other than switching the middle tone to a volume…

Even after redoing the switch wiring from scratch, and removing the blower switch and bridge series link, the switch is still not working correctly.

the #1 position seems to be split, and #2 is full humbucker… I’m starting to wonder if I have a faulty switch or maybe some solder got onto the contacts.

Thanks for the help y’all, I went with Gerry’s configuration and to add in a push/pull for the blower switch

I tried to follow Seymour Duncan’s instructions: https://www.seymourduncan.com/blog/latest-updates/guitar-wiring-explored-adding-a-blower-switch

And this one I found apparently from Suhr: http://www.lonephantom.com/2011/01/suhr-style-blower-switch-pickup-modification/

But it seems to be working in reverse (down is humbucker on) and is still affected by the volume. It also just seems to add the bridge humbucker in, rather than direct to jack overriding the rest like I thought

    Any ideas what I missed?

edit: I figured one part of it out, I had a normal hot wire running to the jack and the hot from the switch. Got rid of the ‘normal’ one. But now the switch is still working opposite…

Here’s a couple pics of the switches. Starting to think about going with a simpler setup and retrying this setup at a later date

I tried to match the diagram as best as I can, and everything seems to line up correctly…

The switch is functioning upside down, down being bypass mode. The humbucker seems to only work in position 2 and 4 with the switch engaged (down), in every other mode it’s split. Even position 1

Thanks Ian. I was considering one of those, but not sure how I’d install the pads as the sound holes on this particular Dulcimer are tiny…

I’ll have to think on it

I followed this diagram you setup for me (thank you so much btw) but remembered that the customer wants a volume for neck/middle, and a volume and tone for the bridge. He’s not concerned with a tone for the neck/middle.

Everything was working as intended, and I successfully added the blower switch, but when I went to alter it to individual volumes… Now the bridge is split in #1 position, and full in #2. The blower switch seems to work split, except when you’re in the 2 and 4 positions…

I’m baffled, and cant seem to figure out what I’m missing here. I’ll draw up a diagram of how I did it

I looked pretty deeply but didn’t find a diagram for quite what I want to do. Was going to use the info available to cobble together a diagram for myself, but thought someone might’ve tackled something similar here!

    We’re thinking about doing:

    Bridge volume

    Neck and Middle volume

    Bridge only, or master tone

Customer gave the ok to use a push/pull if needed but doesn’t want extra switches if possible
