Ran into a similar issue recently with a dimarzio humbucker where it was going dead every now and then. The issue was a broken wire somewhere in the winds, it only worked when the pickup was in a specific position where it bumps into the pickguard (perhaps making the connection due to being pressed in). Same as your case it read at full resistance every now and then depending on how its kept. Ended up replacing it with a newer dimarzio upgrade.
