- The top of the bench is made with particle board capped with melamine
- 3/4” foam wrapped in flannel just barely big enough to hold a guitar, but too small to put parts or loose sandpaper on.

AdministratorSeptember 14, 2023 at 3:57 pm in reply to: ’52 LG1 Bridge issueThis is one of the reasons I almost always make my own bridges. It’s just hard to do it any other way and have it line up. Also, I’m a firm believer in cutting that saddle slot after the bridge is on.
As for how it is now, very difficult to improve. A little shellac might help, but it’s probably best just to leave it, or go hard and make a new bridge etc.

A little more progress today.
The guitar rack is built. It’s real simple and thrown together. If I built guitars like this they wouldn’t last long lol.
Not a single piece of the construction timber was straight so it’s a little wonky but purposes full.
I’m thinking of eventual putting does on and running a humidifier and heater etc in there. Any experience doing this sort of thing would be handy.
I have also realised I have to many junker guitars I’m taking with me. Some of these will become a bonfire I thinks.
Next up the wall!!

One thing that is trick about this is that the color is probably a combination of red pore filler and red lacquer toner coat.
If I was going to A game this, I would definitely try to mix up some pore filler where it is missing.
I also second what @Brockwaystrings says about steaming out what can be steamed out. DO you know how to do that with a paper towel and a soldering pencil. ?

Recently I’ve had a few people call me for initial contact, I’m not sure how they got my number, but then I tell them to email me instead. If they cant do that, then it’s pretty much over.
There is nothing that is going to happen in a phone call that I am gong to remember at this point. I need the paper train of the email to keep track of anything. There is literally no point in telling me anything on the phone because I really don’t care anymore and I will just space out and say a bunch of random grunts until I can get off the phone.

AdministratorSeptember 17, 2023 at 10:14 am in reply to: Holes in Brazilian RosewoodI think so. I would probably use West with some of the 404 filler added so it doesn’t show through if there is an inspection light on the inside.

Toner coat is just a coat of lacquer that has color in it. Usually translucent and meant to make a subtle change.
