We spend a lot of time at our work benches and tables, and sometimes clutter can become irritating. For me it was the small pieces of sandpaper laying at the corner of my workbench and in various little boxes with only about half of them having the grit written on the back side. This led to having to sort through various piles of sandpaper and look for specific grits when doing the finish work on nuts and saddles. Being able to grab a small piece of sandpaper without having to check its grit seemed like a nice way to make life a little easier. Ok, so maybe I’m a bit OCD too.

The storage box dimensions are about 4″ wide by 4″ deep. I have an inexpensive paper cutter from Harbor Freight that I bought for cutting sandpaper strips for neck resets, and a dedicated pair of sandpaper cutting scissors, so making a supply of small sandpaper squares and rectangles is relatively easy.

I made grit labels from 60 to 1000, but I don’t use all of them. The storage box has 8 drawers, but you can put different grit labels on the left and right sides of a drawer. I decided to change the filament color on my grit labels to make them stand out better. It was a pain to do on my Ender 3 v2, but I think it was worth the extra effort. I included the .f3d file for the grit labels so they can be modified if needed.

The first one I printed didn’t have doors, and it was hard to get the sandpaper out. I added doors with a “catch” on the bottom that slides in a track. I recommend setting your slicer to use 3 walls to make the door sides a little sturdier. I also used the slicer’s outside fuzzy skin option just because I thought it looked better.
