• I’m searching for opinions on the J Edwards fractal fret press in conjuction with the Jaws press i don’t have the Jaws press i use my drill press with the standard inserts .Im thinking of getting the J Edwards insert and of course that leads me to the Jaws idea .I can see some advantages to Jaws like holding down a single fret I’m gluing in during a repair! any how thoughts opinions??

      • I think if you’re into Jaws already, it’s a no brainer. I fret everything with a drill press and I really have a hard time rationalizing jaws. Does your drill press have a quill lock ? If so, you can use that to apply pressure you can walk away from.

More generally, I personally don’t like to glue frets down under tension. If they need that kind of force, I just pull them and re radius them so they fit the board and go in without the need for extra pressure.

        • I actually use all 3, Jaws 1, Jaws 2 (most of the time) and the Edwards Fractal with the Jaws 1. All depends on how the frets are going in. Jaws 1 with the Fractal is awesome. On your drill press the Fractal will work really well. I have an arbor but the acoustics don’t fit it unless I get crazy with lifts. I don’t use my drill for pressing in frets because it wasn’t designed for pressing anything and I’ve got a good Delta. Either way, if you’ve got good downward pressure and the slots are correct the Fractal is the way to go IMO.
