• Spraying finish and buffing continues to be my achilles heel. On the final pass on the buffer before final inspection and delivery, i burned through the finish on the back near the tail block. I need to get this guitar to the client soon (was going to be this week) but now I’m at a crossroads considering a few different options:

      1) attempt a repair. Clear is royal lac post cat. Its been set up for a few weeks now so no real hope of avoiding witness lines unless i respray the whole back. Ive done touch ups with fill n finish but never on a larger area like this.

      2) deliver the guitar, show the burn through, and offer to give him the installed pickup for free as recompense. The guitar will get an LR Baggs Anthem (full version), so a $350 savings.

      3) give client the choice between option 1 or 2

      4) let it ride and call the “human touch.” Im not really considering this but am curious how others deal with imperfections in their work.
