My son in law texted me the following pic of a Gibson he once played and would like to find one for sale. I have searched the web to no avail, so I thought the collective here would have someone that recognizes the model. I was told it was an sj200 but I can’t find any sj200s that look like this instrument. Thanks in advance, Tom

One of the first things I made with my 3D printer was this small sanding block with a ball handle that fits my palm. I was inspired by the little L-N squirrel tail block plane that my father gave me. I have neuropathy in my fingers, on top of arthritis, and it’s uncomfortable for me to hold the little blocks of wood that I used before. I…

Glue
“Techwood” bridge and sitka top. What would you guys use for glue?
-
I like hide glue for bridges, but only if it’s mixed from scratch. It’s a pain, but it’s the most future proofed option for rework. If it’s an inexpensive guitar just getting it up and running again on a budget, can’t beat old Titebond.
Question, did the glue joint fail on this one or did the runout fail ? It’s very clean.
-
It is an inexpensive guitar and they glued the bridge onto the finish around the edges. See below before I cleaned it up. I ended up using titebond. I’m inexperienced with hide glue. The bridge popped off with a knife without even heating it up. Even though it was glued to the finish I’m surprised at how easy it came off.

Missing soundhole braces Gretsch 6021 Town&Country Rancher flattop acoustic
Technically this is a repair, but I thought there would be some crossover with building, so I posted here as well. A 1950s Gretsch Town & Country Rancher 6021 is missing the two braces on either side of the sound hole (see photo). Because this is such a wide instrument (17” lower bout), I’m thinking that installing those missing braces will…

Missing soundhole braces Gretsch 6021 Town & Country Rancher flattop
A customer recently brought in a 1950s Gretsch Town & Country Rancher 6021. In addition to two main ladder braces being loose/cracked, it’s missing the two braces on either side of the sound hole (see photo). Because this is such a wide instrument (17” lower bout), I’m thinking that installing those missing braces will help with the…

Seagull Acoustic Neck Tenon...
Hey everyone, I’m dealing with a Seagull acoustic guitar which has a neck design that I’m unfamiliar with. It has a bolt on heel but a seemingly glued in neck. The customer brought it in when his child knocked it off that stand and created a gap between the heel and the neck. It doesn’t appear that these pieces were glued together so I’m…

Hey everyone, I have a Vaccaro bass guitar and I’m getting a lot of open note buzz on it. In truth, the bass could stand a refret but that may or may not be in the cards. Additionally, the truss rod nut is stripped. I’m also wondering if this nut is designed to come out? I imagine it is but it’s kind of funky. A 1/4″ Allen wrench is still…
