This was inspired by Ian’s glue pot. I printed it in PLA and somehow it’s lasted quite a while.
Three holes, one for a little bottle of glue, one for water and one for dipping brushes or paper towels or anywhere you want hot water. There’s a hole for a thermometer.
I got the hide glue in a bottle idea from Laurent Brondel. It’s pretty genius…the glue stays really hot in the bottle so you’re squeezing super hot glue onto your work, it’s not cooling in the air from the pot to the wood. It’s hot enough that the bottles are a little uncomfortable to hold. It makes using hide glue a lot more convenient.
It’s made to fit a waxing pot, I started with a dual pot but it was stupidly big, this works much better. I don’t trust these things not to go on fire, they seem super cheap. Be careful out there.
I don’t really love the bottles I used. The caps are a little big and let out too much glue. You can use a needle with them but it’s friction fit, which annoys me. It would be easy enough to change the design in Fusion for a different bottle, the model is in the zip file.
I’m over Amazon but this is what I bought…
