LoothPrint — Electric Neck Pocket Shim (Parametric)
Dial in your bolt-on neck angle with a fully parametric Fusion 360 file. Customize width, length, thickness, and angle to fit your exact neck pocket for precise action and playability.
Open the Angle Calculator ↗
(Sheet-accurate math; tip thickness fixed at 0.00787402″ / 0.20 mm)
- Fully parametric Fusion 360 design — edit width, length, thickness, angle.
- Made for bolt-on neck guitars (Fender®, Squier®, and similar routs).
- Precision neck-angle control for setup, action, and bridge/saddle range.
- Pairs with the online calculator to pick your exact shim angle.
What’s Included
- Fusion 360 parametric file (fully editable parameters).
- Printable mesh (STL) of the base configuration for quick tests.
Compatibility & Notes
- Designed for standard electric bolt-on pockets; adjust parameters for your model if needed.
- Default shim tip thickness used by the calculator: 0.00787402″ (0.20 mm).
- Typical print advice: 0.08 mm layer height for a crisp tip; PETG or PLA+ recommended.
- Always test-fit before final install to confirm neck pocket tolerances.
How to Use
- Use the Angle Calculator to determine your shim angle.
- Open the Fusion 360 file.
- Go to Modify → Change Parameters and set width, length, thickness, angle.
- Click OK to update the model; verify the fit.
- Right-click the body named Shim → Save As Mesh (or Export) for printing.
- Print, test-fit, and install.
- The calculator uses the same geometry as our shop sheet (body-joint fret, scale length, Δ@12th).
- Need a specific pocket or radius? Adjust the parameters — that’s what this file is for.
- Questions or custom dimensions? Message me — happy to help.

I run into a glitch where Fusion won’t render the degree if I change the parameters of the pocket length to be larger than 3.35″. I’m not familiar enough with Fusion yet to make the tweak to the parameter menu myself and end up drawing the geometry from scratch.
Interesting, ill look into it thanks for letting me know
Should be fixed now 🙂
Awesome, everything seems to be working now.
I had a Gibson G3 bass where the neck pocket length was 3.6 inches. This update should now be able to handle some of those deeper set bass neck pockets. Thanks Buck!
is there a reason behind the angle not going all the way to the bottom? it looks like its making an angled shim on top of the already raised flat shim?
nevermind lol i figured out the hard way that its so the slicer can actually see the full size of the shim, atleast in fdm. thanks for making this its great
